 Background

Bangladesh Manobadhikar Sangbadik Forum, in short BMSF, was formed in January 10, 1991 with the objective to mobilise the journalists community, those working in the national,  local print & electronic media, involve with freelance journalism and human rights campaign to facilitate their participation in the national development program activities.

BMSF has a 7-Member elected Executive Committee and 21 General Committee. The President is the organisational head and the Secretary General is the Chief Executive, who also holds the office of the Executive Director. Its members are generally affiliated with the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists, the Dhaka Union of Journalists, Dhaka Reporters Unity, National and Divisional Press Clubs and other’s associations related to journalism in the country.

On 7 March 1995, BMSF was registered with the Directorate of Social Welfare, under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Applied for registration with NGO Affairs Bureau, which is under process.
 
 Vision

An environment, free of Human Rights Violation against Men, Women and Child, that ensures Drugs and HIV/AIDS free society and strengthens the press freedom movement & democratic institutions and good governance in Bangladesh.

 
 Mission
BMSF works to contribute its share in the national development. The organisation mobilises the journalist’s community in Bangladesh to undertake various development projects and programs that are related to environment, human rights and good governance, press freedom, HIV/AIDS, Education and development of democratic institutions in Bangladesh with support and in collaboration with the Government, Donors, NGOs and members of the Civil Society.
 
 Goal
Protect & promote human rights, women rights, child rights, good governance & press freedom issues, prevention on HIV/AIDS through media networking & advocacy.
 
 Objectives
  • Develop networking with the journalist’s community all over the country.
  • Capacity building of the network members on Human Rights, Child rights, Women rights, prevention on HIV/AIDS, Good governance issues.
  • Continuous Advocacy, Awareness rising, Campaign program of deference human rights and development issues through media.
  • Establish and run educational institution
  • Develop Information resource centre through ICT Program.
     Programs

    BMSF has already undertaken a program to mobilise the HIV/AIDS oriented journalists to strengthening and accelerating the social movement to project and protect human rights issues of People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and their effective involvement at various level in response to HIV/AIDS in Bangladesh. The organisation intends to initiate Legal and Media Aid for helping the victims of human rights violation and especially the Journalists Community.
